The risk of mixed household waste comes from unknown sources. Lithium batteries, gas bottles, airtight containers, glass and oversized metal parts may appear in the incoming materials. Pre-sorting is not an added frill, but the first step in protecting people, equipment and the destination of your finished product.

Material characteristics

  • The volume, density and material of bulky waste and mixed domestic waste change rapidly, and wood, fabric, sponge, plastic and metal may appear in the same batch.
  • Springs, long fabrics, ropes and films have a tendency to become entangled, and glass, stones, batteries and sealed containers need to be identified in advance.
  • The value of the project depends on subsequent sorting and receiving channels. Simply reducing capacity cannot automatically form usable products.

Key processing challenges

  • Hazardous materials and closures can cause fire, explosion, or harmful leakage.
  • When wet organic matter is mixed with lightweight packaging, transportation and screening are prone to clogging.
  • The incoming material fluctuates greatly, and instantaneous feeding will overload the crushing section.

Equipment-selection criteria

  • Determine the boundaries of unloading, grabbing, conveying and shredding equipment according to the maximum incoming material, collection and transportation mode and peak beat.
  • Focus on checking anti-winding, automatic reversal, foreign object protection, cleaning convenience and shaft end sealing.
  • Configure magnetic separation, screening, air separation or manual sorting according to target components such as metals, wood materials, light materials, etc.

Typical process flow

The unloading area first conducts visual inspection and hazardous material selection, and then removes unsuitable materials through bag breaking, screening or manual sorting. The qualified parts are quantitatively fed into shreds, and continue to be magnetically separated, winnowed or other sorted according to the target components.
