Logs with a relatively uniform diameter and controllable direction are suitable for chipping; incoming materials with many branches, messy shapes, or mixed with boards require more forgiving shredding. You can't just press "Wood" to select a device.
Material characteristics
- Pallets, furniture boards, construction lumber and garden branches vary widely in size, wood species, moisture content and metal attachments.
- Nails, corners, sand, plastics and coatings can affect wear, magnetic separation and the use of the finished product.
- Pelletizing, fuel, board raw materials and volume reduction external sales correspond to different wood chip particle size, fine powder and moisture content requirements.
Key processing challenges
- Branches tend to build bridges at the feed port, and long materials will rebound.
- Silt and stones in the roots will accelerate tool wear.
- The ratio of leaves, twigs and thick stems changes the distribution of the finished product.
Equipment-selection criteria
- Determine the feed inlet, conveying and anti-bridging design based on the largest wooden parts, stacking method and forklift or gripper loading.
- Check the allowable boundaries of cutters, low-speed drives and metal parts containing nailed wood, and set appropriate magnetic separation positions.
- Secondary crushing, screening, iron removal, dust removal and storage solutions are deduced from the end use.
Typical process flow
After the incoming materials are classified, the regular wood segments enter the chipping process, and the complex branches and mixed wood enter the low-speed shredding process. The discharged materials are then screened, iron removed, and the size is controlled according to the requirements of mulch, compost auxiliary materials or fuel.
