Small motors, transformers and electronic metal components often contain copper wire, steel and aluminum parts. Direct crushing can improve the degree of mechanization, but if the incoming materials have different specifications or contain oil, pre-disassembly is still necessary.
Material characteristics
- Electronic waste contains metals, engineering plastics, cables and electronic components. The degree of disassembly determines the incoming material boundary of the crushing section.
- Batteries, live parts, compressors, seals and liquid-containing parts cannot be fed directly as ordinary solid waste.
- The crushing target should serve dissociation and sorting. Too fine particles may increase dust, metal loss and difficulty in sorting.
Key processing challenges
- Thick steel casings and shafts may exceed the boundaries of common e-waste equipment.
- Enameled copper wire needs to be fully dissociated for effective sorting.
- Oily, sealed and magnetic parts have an impact on safety and transportation.
Equipment-selection criteria
- Establish procedures for disconnecting power, draining fluids, removing batteries, and identifying hazardous parts before discussing mechanical handling equipment.
- Determine primary volume reduction, secondary dissociation, magnetic separation, eddy current or specific gravity separation routes based on the target metal and plastic components.
- Check the tool wear resistance, temperature rise, dust and target component recovery effects through sample testing.
Typical process flow
Incoming materials are classified according to size and oil content, and overweight shaft parts are removed in advance. Qualified components are crushed, magnetically separated and non-ferrous metal sorted, and the fine copper and aluminum mixture then enters the appropriate physical sorting link.
