How to release bead wire without compromising rubber granule quality

Insufficient release of the bead wire will take away the rubber, and excessive fine crushing will increase energy consumption. The magnetic separation position and material return logic need to be coordinated.

Wire separation is not a problem for a single magnetic separator. Knife shear, rubber block size, steel wire exposure and material layer thickness jointly determine the magnetic separation effect. A reasonable goal is to reduce the metal residue of steel tape adhesive and rubber particles at acceptable energy consumption.

Material characteristics

  • The outer diameter, tire width, rubber thickness and steel wire structure of car tires, truck and bus tires, agricultural tires and engineering tires vary greatly.
  • Rubber has high elasticity and high friction. The beads and cord wires will increase the shear load and affect subsequent separation.
  • Coarse broken blocks, rubber blocks without steel wire, rubber granules and rubber powder correspond to different crushing stages and sorting requirements.

Key processing challenges

  • The bead wire bundles are thick and may form filaments and become entangled after being broken.
  • When the glue block is too large, the steel wire is not fully exposed, and when it is too thin, the thin steel wire is more difficult to remove.
  • The magnetic separation belt speed, material layer and installation position will affect the actual separation.

Equipment-selection criteria

  • Use the largest tire allowed by the system as the boundary to determine whether drawing, loop cutting, strip cutting or other pre-processing is required.
  • According to the target product, the shredding stages, tool maintenance methods, screening, magnetic separation and fiber separation configurations are deduced.
  • Evaluate low-speed torque, overload protection, reversal logic, and continuous feeding capabilities rather than just comparing motor power.

Typical process flow

After coarse crushing, the released steel wire is first magnetically separated, and the unqualified rubber pieces enter the recycling or secondary crushing, and then are gradually purified through multi-stage magnetic separation and screening. The quality of steel wire and rubber should be sampled separately, not just the equipment outlet.
