How to pretreat truck and bus tires with heavy bead wire

The thickness of the bead wire and rubber of truck and bus tires is higher than that of car tires. Drawing, cutting or direct shredding should be selected according to the purpose of the entire line.

Truck and bus tires are larger in size and have thicker bead wire bundles. Directly entering the configuration of ordinary car tires may cause feeding difficulties and increase the tool load. Whether to set up wire drawing or loop cutting should be judged based on the subsequent steel wire quality, processing rhythm and artificial conditions.

Material characteristics

  • The outer diameter, tire width, rubber thickness and steel wire structure of car tires, truck and bus tires, agricultural tires and engineering tires vary greatly.
  • Rubber has high elasticity and high friction. The beads and cord wires will increase the shear load and affect subsequent separation.
  • Coarse broken blocks, rubber blocks without steel wire, rubber granules and rubber powder correspond to different crushing stages and sorting requirements.

Key processing challenges

  • Manual handling of heavy tires is difficult, and loading and positioning require mechanization.
  • The bead area has high strength, and the impact on the tool and shaft system is more obvious.
  • Too much pretreatment will increase equipment and labor, while too little will transfer pressure to the coarse crushing section.

Equipment-selection criteria

  • Use the largest tire allowed by the system as the boundary to determine whether drawing, loop cutting, strip cutting or other pre-processing is required.
  • According to the target product, the shredding stages, tool maintenance methods, screening, magnetic separation and fiber separation configurations are deduced.
  • Evaluate low-speed torque, overload protection, reversal logic, and continuous feeding capabilities rather than just comparing motor power.

Typical process flow

After the tires are weighed and classified, the bead wire can be pulled out or cut into rings, and then the tires can be coarsely shredded and magnetically separated. If a direct shredding solution is adopted, the maximum specification, feeding method and wire release effect should be verified, and capacity should be reserved for subsequent recycling.
